Anime Royale Tier List (July 2026): Best Units Ranked

Last Updated: July 2026 – The Anime Royale meta has shifted dramatically with Update 6 and the Spring Update. New units have reshaped the tier list, and bleed-based team compositions now dominate high-level play. This guide covers everything you need to know about the current meta, including the Trait system and Modulation mechanics that were recently introduced.

Welcome to the most comprehensive Anime Royale tier list available anywhere online! Whether you’re grinding through Story Mode, pushing for high waves in Infinite Mode, or tackling the toughest Raids and Rifts, knowing which units to invest your precious gems in makes all the difference between victory and defeat.

Anime Royale has evolved significantly since its February 2023 launch as a Roblox tower defense experience. The game now features over 50 summonable characters inspired by iconic anime series including Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Bleach, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Solo Leveling, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and many others. With the addition of Update 6 and the Spring Update, the meta has completely transformed from what it was just a few months ago.

In this 2026 edition of our tier list, I’ll break down every unit from the new god-tier S+ rankings through D tier, explain the Trait system that can elevate your units to new heights, cover the Modulation mechanics that modify game modes, and dive deep into the bleed team compositions that are currently crushing end-game content. Whether you’re rerolling for your first Mythical or optimizing your evolved roster for Rift challenges, this guide has you covered.

What Makes a Unit Top-Tier in Anime Royale?

Before diving into the rankings, understanding what separates elite units from mediocre ones will help you make smarter decisions with your resources. Through hundreds of hours of testing across all game modes, I’ve identified five critical factors that determine tier placement:

Damage Per Second (DPS): Raw damage output remains king in tower defense. Units like Ant General and Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate deal damage that can exceed even Secret rarity characters when properly upgraded and traited. DPS determines how quickly you can clear waves and defeat bosses.

Area of Effect (AoE) Coverage: Enemies arrive in waves, making AoE absolutely essential. Full AoE units can hit everything on the map simultaneously, while cone or line AoE covers specific zones. The best units combine high DPS with comprehensive AoE coverage.

Hybrid Targeting: The ability to attack both ground and air enemies is crucial for late-game success. Units restricted to only one type become liabilities when mixed waves arrive. Top-tier units target everything.

Cost Efficiency: Early game units like Nemo shine because they’re cheap to deploy and upgrade. Even in late game, cost efficiency matters for getting your defense established before waves overwhelm you.

Utility and Status Effects: Stun, slow, knockback, shield-breaking, burn damage, and the new bleed effects can turn impossible situations into victories. The current meta heavily favors units that apply bleed stacks, which is why Ant General dominates every tier list right now.

Anime Royale Tier List

This tier list reflects the current meta as of Update 6 and the Spring Update 2026. The rankings account for units at maximum upgrade level with optimal Traits applied. Remember that some lower-tier units can outperform higher-tier ones in specific situations or with the right team composition around them.

S+ Tier Units: The Absolute Best

These are the units that completely break the game. If you pull any of these characters, you’ve essentially won the gacha lottery. They dominate every game mode and should be your absolute top priority for upgrades, Traits, and team slots.

Ant General (Mythical)

Ant General has emerged as arguably the strongest character in Anime Royale following recent buffs and the rise of bleed-based team compositions. This unit applies devastating bleed stacks that scale with enemy max health, making him effective against literally everything from early grunts to end-game raid bosses. His hybrid targeting, massive range, and the fact that bleed damage ignores shields make him indispensable for high-level content. Multiple Ant Generals in a team can stack bleeds to absurd levels, melting even the tankiest enemies.

Friend (Secret Rarity)

Based on Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Friend remains one of the strongest units in the game with DPS that dwarfs most Mythical units. Her full AoE attack, hybrid targeting capability, and insane range allow her to clear entire waves before they reach your defense line. In testing, Friend has solo-cleared Infinite Mode waves that full teams of lower-tier units struggle against.

Virtual Sniper (Secret Rarity)

The second Secret unit added to Anime Royale, Virtual Sniper matches Friend’s overwhelming power with slightly different strengths. She features full AoE with enormous range that can cover the entire map on certain stages. While her seconds per attack (SPA) is higher than some units, the damage per shot and coverage more than compensate. Virtual Sniper excels at eliminating waves before they cluster, working perfectly as a backline cleanup unit.

Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate (Mythical Evolution)

This final evolution form represents peak physical damage output in Anime Royale. His attack radius, range, and DPS numbers are absolutely broken. The grinding required to evolve him from base form through awakened to ultimate is substantial, but the payoff is a unit that rivals Secret rarity characters in raw performance. He’s particularly effective against bosses due to his multi-hit attacks.

Aura Farmer (Purple) (Mythical)

The Purple variant of Aura Farmer has taken the farming meta by storm. While farm units traditionally sacrifice damage for income generation, Aura Farmer (Purple) manages to do both at elite levels. His income generation scales into late game better than Lawlight, and his damage output means he contributes to wave clear while funding your team. For Infinite Mode and long Rift challenges, he’s become the go-to farming solution.

Aura King Monarch (Mythical)

A recent addition that has immediately shot to the top of tier lists, Aura King Monarch combines hybrid targeting with a unique aura mechanic that buffs nearby units. His personal DPS is exceptional, but the attack speed and damage bonuses he provides to your entire team push him into S+ territory. He works particularly well when surrounded by other high-damage units like Ant General or Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate.

Yado (Secret Rarity)

Yado represents a new generation of Secret units with mechanics that break traditional tower defense conventions. His ability to teleport attacks to any enemy on the map regardless of distance, combined with his hybrid targeting and shield-ignoring damage, makes him one of the most versatile units ever added to Anime Royale. He’s particularly effective in Rifts where enemies spawn from multiple directions.

Eyezen (Secret Rarity)

The newest Secret unit to join the roster, Eyezen brings an interesting mechanic where his damage increases based on how many enemies are currently on the map. In Infinite Mode and high-wave scenarios, this scaling can push his DPS beyond even Friend in optimal conditions. His DoT effects and full AoE coverage make him a monster in prolonged fights.

S Tier Units: Elite Choices

S-tier units are exceptional and will carry you through virtually all content in Anime Royale. While they don’t quite reach the game-breaking levels of S+ units, these characters are absolutely worth your gems, upgrades, and team slots.

Gen Z (Mythical) and Kaillou (Mythical)

These One Punch Man inspired units have a unique combo mechanic where they must be used together to reach S-tier status. Individually, they’re merely good units with solid DPS. Together, they unlock synergy bonuses that dramatically increase their attack speed and damage output. If you only have one, they drop to A-tier. If you have both and place them within range of each other, they become S-tier monsters that can handle most end-game content.

Game Master Serious (Mythical Evolution)

The evolved serious version of Game Master represents one of the most reliable meta units available. His hybrid burn damage combined with full AoE coverage makes him exceptional against shielded enemies, which are increasingly common in Update 6 content. The burn ticks shred through shields while his base DPS handles the actual health pool.

Freeze Final (Mythical Evolution)

Freeze Final remains the ultimate shield-shredder for end-game content. As a hill unit with multi-hit attacks, enormous range, and large AoE, he demolishes shielded enemies that would otherwise halt your progress. His channeled attack makes his effective SPA feel almost nonexistent, providing consistent damage output that few units can match.

Ulquioro Second (Mythical Evolution)

Based on Ulquiorra from Bleach, this evolution stands among the best DPS mythics available. He’s hybrid, has excellent SPA, massive AoE coverage, and one of the highest ranges in the game. Ulquioro Second performs exceptionally well in both Story Mode progression and Infinite Mode grinding, making him a versatile investment.

Lawlight (Legendary)

Inspired by L from Death Note, Lawlight maintains his position as the best pure farm unit for Infinite Mode. Farm units generate money rather than dealing damage, and Lawlight’s late-game income scaling is essential for strategies requiring massive amounts of currency to deploy expensive Mythical units. He’s not flashy, but teams without proper farming support fail in high waves.

Nemo (Common)

Don’t underestimate Common rarity units. Nemo, based on Nami from One Piece, remains the best farm unit for Story Mode and Raids because she ramps up much faster than Lawlight. Her upgrades are incredibly cheap, making her essential for early and mid-game progression before you can afford the expensive late-game units.

Alize (Mythical)

Following buffs in recent updates, Alize now boasts insane DPS for a non-evolution mythic. Her range, SPA, and upgrade costs are all excellent, making her arguably the best non-evo mythic in the current meta. She’s reliable, doesn’t require the massive grinding that evolution units demand, and performs consistently across all game modes.

Stabs (Mythical)

Based on Shanks from One Piece, Stabs is a 1-placement full AoE mythic with incredible Infinite Mode performance. He targets flying enemies, his attack is multi-hit, and he applies brief stuns that provide both damage and utility. His versatility makes him one of the most valuable units in the entire game despite his placement limit.

Manara (Mythical)

Inspired by Madara from Naruto, Manara combines excellent range, solid DPS, and one of the best DoT effects available. When fully upgraded, his cone AoE covers a massive portion of the map and hits flying enemies. While Ant General has surpassed him for pure bleed damage, Manara remains a top-tier choice for general content.

Jotero (Mythical)

Based on Jotaro Kujo from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Jotero is hands-down one of the best support units. He can stun, knock back, and slow enemies while dealing respectable DPS. His only limitation is ground-only targeting, but the utility effects more than compensate for this weakness in stages without heavy air presence.

Aligator (Rare)

The second-best support unit right now, Aligator (based on Crocodile from One Piece) provides hybrid targeting with full AoE slow and very high range. His SPA is his only real downside, but the crowd control he offers is invaluable for managing large waves.

A Tier Units: Strong Reliable Options

A-tier units are strong choices that will serve you well, particularly if you’re still building your roster toward S and S+ units. They’re excellent for Story Mode and solid in Raids, though they start showing limitations in very high-wave Infinite Mode and difficult Rifts.

Itchy (Legendary)

Arguably the best legendary unit, Itchy (based on Itachi Uchiha from Naruto) is a hill unit that shreds shields with burn damage while dealing respectable damage. His burn tick damage makes him extremely efficient for wave management and shield-breaking duties.

Microw (Legendary)

In terms of raw DPS, Microw (inspired by Mihawk from One Piece) is the strongest legendary unit available. He has good range, AoE coverage, and can target flying enemies. However, his expensive placement and upgrade costs make him primarily an Infinite Mode unit where resources are abundant.

Keneki (Mythical)

Inspired by Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul, Keneki is exceptional for dealing with shields at low upgrade levels. Once fully upgraded, he transforms into a solid DPS unit with high damage and low SPA. He serves as a good bridge unit while working toward S-tier evolutions.

Leafy Fairy (Mythical Evolution)

Leafy Fairy features a cone AoE attack with excellent range and DPS. While she doesn’t offer the utility of some higher-tier units, her raw damage output keeps her firmly in the A-tier category for general content.

Virtual Swordswoman (Mythical)

A hybrid unit with large AoE attack, good range, and solid DPS. Her 2-placement maximum is a significant limitation, but her overall performance justifies using her when you need hybrid coverage.

Reaper Child (Mythical)

A newer addition from the Valentine Update, Reaper Child brings solid DPS with a unique mechanic that increases damage against bleeding enemies. He works exceptionally well in bleed team compositions alongside Ant General, creating synergy that pushes his effective tier higher in specific setups.

Orihamis (Legendary)

Based on Orihime from Bleach, Orihamis provides healing support that can extend your team’s survival in prolonged fights. While healing isn’t as meta as damage or crowd control, she enables strategies that would otherwise be impossible in high-wave content.

Kokoin (Epic)

Based on Noriaki Kakyoin from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Kokoin is probably the best DPS epic for Story Mode progression. He’s a hill unit with multi-hit attack and solid DPS, plus his placement and upgrades are really affordable for new players.

Kekeshi (Rare)

Inspired by Kakashi from Naruto, Kekeshi can stun enemies with his attack, making him a solid support option. He has decent DPS and can carry new players through Story Mode completely solo in many stages.

B Tier Units: Decent for Beginners

B-tier units are serviceable for Story Mode progression and early Raids, but they fall off significantly in late-game content. If you pull these units early in your account, use them to progress, but prioritize replacing them as soon as you obtain A-tier or higher options.

Freeze (Legendary)

The base form before evolution, Freeze will help you clear early Story Mode like no other character. He’s ultra-cheap to place and upgrade, his DPS is solid, and when fully upgraded he can target flying enemies. He’s the perfect unit for brand new players on a budget, but plan to evolve him as soon as possible.

Goko Dark (Legendary)

Based on Goku Black from Dragon Ball Super, Goko Dark is a solid hill unit you can use until you get Itchy or a better option. His main limitation is lacking multi-hit or burn when fully upgraded, making him suboptimal against shielded flying enemies.

Geo (Legendary)

A solid legendary with a long line AoE attack. However, Microw, Frieza, Itchy, and others far surpass Geo for Infinite Mode, relegating him primarily to Story Mode and early Raids.

Ulquorio (Legendary)

The base form before evolution, Ulquorio has one of the highest DPS ratings among legendary units with a very long line AoE attack. You’ll need him to eventually evolve into Ulquioro Second, so definitely keep at least one copy.

Zonitsu (Legendary)

Based on Zenitsu from Demon Slayer, Zonitsu’s only redeeming quality is his stun effect. Otherwise, his damage output and overall stats are disappointing for a legendary rarity unit.

Sosoke Kirin (Legendary)

Arguably the worst legendary unit, Sosoke Kirin (Sasuke from Naruto) has only 2 placements, isn’t hybrid, has poor range, and his burn effect is mediocre. The only reason to use him over an epic is his slightly better base stats.

Netsu (Legendary)

The second-worst legendary, Netsu (Natsu from Fairy Tail) applies burn like Sosoke Kirin but with more ticks. Beyond that, he doesn’t offer much value compared to other options.

Virtual Swordsman (Rare)

One of the best rare units with insane range, good DPS, and excellent full AoE attack when fully upgraded. A great option for new players who haven’t pulled legendaries or mythics yet.

Noroto (Rare)

The best rare DPS for Story Mode, Noroto (kid Naruto) can carry you through most early stages solo. His upgrades are incredibly cheap, and he deals with shields reliably. However, you’ll need a hill unit to help since he can’t target flying enemies.

C Tier Units: Limited Use Cases

C-tier units have very limited applications in the current meta. They might help you in the first few Story Mode stages, but you should replace them as quickly as possible with higher-tier alternatives.

Inusuke (Epic) – Without a doubt, the worst epic tower available. Ground-only targeting with low range and DPS that doesn’t compensate enough for these limitations.

Klai (Epic) – Has somewhat okay DPS for an epic and full AoE attack when maxed out. Pretty good for early progression but gets replaced quickly once you have better units.

Pickle (Epic) – A solid epic hill unit with multi-hit attack and very good DPS. The limitation of only two placements means he gets completely overshadowed by Kokoin in most situations.

Sosoke (Rare) – The best rare DPS for Infinite Mode with incredible stats, 5 upgrades, and multi-hit attack when maxed. Worth keeping for specific rare-only challenges.

Vegetable (Common) – Has insane range for a common tower with multi-hit attack, making him a decent shield-breaker in the very early game.

Fire Leg (Rare) – Full AoE when maxed with 4 placements and relatively good DPS. His burn can shred shields on ground enemies effectively.

D Tier Units: Avoid These

D-tier units are essentially unusable past the first few Story Mode stages. Don’t waste resources upgrading them unless you have absolutely no other options.

Virtual Swordgirl (Rare) – Doesn’t offer anything better than Virtual Swordsman, Noroto, or any other rare unit. Completely outclassed.

Ryko (Common) – Has cone AoE with good DPS for a common but is expensive to place and upgrade, making him suboptimal compared to other commons.

Roro (Common) – Decent DPS but small AoE and expensive placement make him a poor choice for progression.

Tojiro (Common) – Bad range and DPS. Arguably the worst rare unit in Anime Royale. Avoid completely unless you have literally nothing else.

Goko (Common) – Multi-hit on placement makes him okay for dealing with shields in early stages, but he becomes irrelevant quickly.

Understanding Traits and the Trait System

The Trait system is one of the most important mechanics added to Anime Royale in recent updates, yet many players don’t understand how to use it effectively. Traits are special modifiers that can be applied to your units to enhance their stats and abilities beyond normal upgrade limits.

How Traits Work: Each unit can have one Trait equipped at a time. Traits come in different rarities (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical) with higher rarities providing stronger bonuses. You obtain Traits through the Trait roll system using specific currency earned from Rifts and high-wave Infinite Mode runs.

Best Traits for DPS Units: For pure damage dealers like Ant General and Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate, look for Traits that increase Attack Damage, Attack Speed, or Critical Hit Chance. The “Sovereign” trait is currently considered the best for DPS units, providing massive damage bonuses.

Best Traits for Support Units: Support units like Jotero and Aligator benefit more from Traits that extend effect duration or increase range. The “Range Master” trait can turn good support units into map-wide crowd control machines.

Best Traits for Farm Units: Farm units want Traits that boost income generation. Look for Traits mentioning “Income” or “Money” bonuses to maximize your economic advantage.

Don’t neglect the Trait system. A properly traited A-tier unit can outperform an untraited S-tier unit in many situations. Check the Anime Royale Trello board and Discord community for the latest Trait tier lists as the meta shifts frequently.

Modulation System Explained

The Modulation system, introduced in Update 5 and expanded in Update 6, adds a new layer of strategy to Anime Royale. Modulations are modifiers that change how game modes function, adding challenges or bonuses that can increase your rewards.

What Are Modulations?: Modulations are essentially difficulty modifiers that you can activate before starting a Story Mode stage, Raid, or Infinite Mode run. Each Modulation changes some aspect of the game – enemy health, spawn rates, unit restrictions, reward multipliers – creating fresh challenges even on stages you’ve beaten hundreds of times.

Popular Modulations for Farming: Some Modulations increase gem or material drop rates in exchange for making enemies tougher. For players with strong S+ and S-tier rosters, these are excellent for efficient farming. The “Double Reward” modulation is particularly popular for grinding evolution materials.

Challenge Modulations: Other Modulations add restrictions like “No Farm Units” or “Ground Only” that force you to approach stages with different strategies. These are great for testing your roster depth and earning exclusive rewards.

Experiment with different Modulation combinations to find what works best for your current unit collection. The Wiki maintains an updated Modulation tier list showing which modifiers provide the best risk-to-reward ratio.

How Do I Get the Best Units in Anime Royale?

Acquiring top-tier units requires understanding the gacha system and playing strategically. Here’s exactly how to maximize your chances of getting S+ and S-tier characters:

Redeem Every Active Code: The developers regularly release codes that give free gems and reroll tokens. Check the official Anime Royale Discord server and Trello board for updated codes before you start summoning. Codes typically expire after a few weeks, so use them quickly.

Understand the Pity System: Legendary pity activates at 50 pulls, while Mythical pity requires 400 pulls. This means you’re guaranteed a Mythical unit after 400 summons, which costs 20,000 gems (or 16,000 with VIP game pass). The pity counter carries over between banners, so don’t worry about losing progress.

Save for Rate-Up Banners: Wait for banners featuring meta units like Ant General, Friend, or Aura King Monarch. Summoning on standard banners is wasteful when you could have increased chances for specific god-tier units. The Valentine’s Update and Spring Update typically feature special banners with boosted rates.

Complete Story Mode First: Story Mode rewards you with gems, Topaz, and Beans – resources essential for summoning and upgrading units. Focus on progression rather than rerolling endlessly at the start.

Join Gaming Communities: The Anime Royale Discord server at discord.gg/animeroyale provides announcements about upcoming banners, balance changes, and exclusive events. Joining active gaming communities can also help you stay updated on the latest Anime Royale codes and meta changes.

Which Units Should I Focus on as a New Player?

If you’re just starting out in Anime Royale, here’s my recommended progression path based on the current meta and hundreds of hours of testing:

Early Game (Story Mode 1-10): Focus on Freeze, Noroto, and Nemo. These units are cheap to deploy and upgrade, letting you progress quickly without breaking the bank. Nemo’s farm ability is crucial for generating the money you need to deploy better units later. Don’t sleep on common and rare units at this stage.

Mid Game (Story Mode 11-25): If you’ve pulled any A-tier legendaries like Itchy or Microw, start investing in them. Keep using Nemo for farming and add Kokoin if you have him for solid DPS. This is also when you should start thinking about evolution paths for units like Freeze and Ulquorio.

Late Game (Raids, Rifts, and Infinite Mode): This is where you need S-tier and S+-tier units. Your absolute priority targets should be Ant General for the current bleed meta, followed by Aura Farmer (Purple) for farming, and then DPS mythics like Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate or Alize. If you’re incredibly lucky and pull Friend, Virtual Sniper, Yado, or Eyezen, they become your instant carry units.

Pro Tip: Always keep at least one copy of every legendary and mythical unit you pull, even if they’re not meta right now. Balance patches happen regularly, and today’s B-tier unit could become tomorrow’s S-tier with the right buffs. The Valentine’s Update and Spring Update have already reshuffled the tier list multiple times.

How Often Does the Anime Royale Tier List Change?

The Anime Royale meta shifts every time the developers release a balance patch or add new units. Based on the game’s update history, expect significant changes every 4-6 weeks with major content updates.

Recent meta shifts have been dramatic. The introduction of Ant General completely changed team building around bleed compositions. The Spring Update added Yado and Eyezen as new Secret units, reshuffling the top of every tier list. The Trait system added another layer of complexity where properly traited lower-tier units can outperform untraited higher-tier ones.

I personally update this tier list within 48 hours of any major balance patch to ensure you always have the most current information. Bookmark this page and check back regularly to stay competitive. Following the official Twitter account and Discord server is essential for staying ahead of meta changes.

What’s the Best Team Composition in Anime Royale?

Building the optimal team requires balancing four key roles: DPS, Support, Farm, and Shield-Breaking. Here’s what I recommend for the current meta:

Slot 1 – Primary DPS: Ant General if you have him, otherwise Friend, Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate, or Manara. This unit does your heavy lifting and should be your highest priority for upgrades and optimal Traits.

Slot 2 – Secondary DPS: Yado, Eyezen, Stabs, or Ulquioro Second. Having a second DPS unit ensures you can handle waves even if your primary DPS has limited placements or cooldown considerations.

Slot 3 – Support: Jotero or Aligator. Support units with stun, slow, or knockback effects drastically increase your survival rate by controlling enemy movement. In the current meta, crowd control is almost as valuable as raw damage.

Slot 4 – Farm Unit: Aura Farmer (Purple) for late-game content, Lawlight for Infinite Mode, or Nemo for Story Mode and Raids. You absolutely need consistent income generation to deploy and upgrade your expensive units.

Slot 5 – Shield Breaker / Utility: Freeze Final, Itchy, or Keneki for shielded enemies, or add another DPS if your team has sufficient shield-breaking elsewhere. Shielded enemies become increasingly common in higher difficulties.

Bleed Team Composition (Current Meta)

The bleed team composition has become the dominant strategy in Anime Royale following buffs to Ant General and the addition of units that synergize with bleed effects. Here’s how to build an effective bleed team:

Core Unit – Ant General: You need at least one Ant General, preferably multiple. His bleed stacks are the foundation of this composition. Each Ant General can maintain multiple bleed stacks on enemies, and these stacks deal percentage-based damage that scales into infinity.

Bleed Synergy Units: Reaper Child and certain other units deal bonus damage to bleeding enemies. Including these amplifies your total team DPS significantly. Reaper Child in particular becomes S-tier when paired with Ant General.

Supporting Cast: Include Jotero or Aligator for crowd control to keep enemies alive longer (so bleeds can tick more), and Aura King Monarch to buff your Ant General’s attack speed. Faster attacks mean more frequent bleed applications.

Farm Unit Considerations: Bleed teams excel in long fights, making Aura Farmer (Purple) the ideal choice over Nemo for end-game content. The extended waves give your bleeds time to accumulate and deal massive damage.

A properly built bleed team with multiple Ant Generals can clear content that would be impossible for traditional DPS-focused compositions. The percentage-based damage ignores enemy scaling, making this strategy future-proof against harder content releases.

Common Mistakes Players Make With Unit Selection

Through extensive testing and community interaction, I’ve identified the biggest mistakes that hold players back from reaching their potential:

Mistake #1: Upgrading Every Unit You Get

Resources are extremely limited in Anime Royale. Don’t waste Beans and Topaz upgrading D-tier or C-tier units just because you pulled them. Focus your resources on A-tier and above units only. A fully upgraded B-tier unit will still underperform compared to a moderately upgraded S-tier unit.

Mistake #2: Ignoring Farm Units

Many new players skip Nemo and Lawlight because they don’t deal damage. This is a huge mistake. Without consistent income generation, you can’t deploy your expensive Mythical units, rendering them useless paperweights in your inventory.

Mistake #3: Not Understanding Placement Limits

Some powerful units like Virtual Swordswoman and Stabs have placement limits of 1-2 units maximum. Building a team entirely of limited-placement units means you won’t have enough towers on the field to handle large waves. Balance your team with units that have higher placement limits.

Mistake #4: Neglecting the Trait System

Many players completely ignore Traits or roll them randomly without strategy. A properly traited A-tier unit can outperform an untraited S-tier unit. Spend time farming Rifts to get good Traits for your main team.

Mistake #5: Selling Legendaries Too Quickly

Just because a legendary unit isn’t meta right now doesn’t mean it won’t be buffed in the future. Keep at least one copy of every legendary and mythical unit you pull. The Spring Update buffed several previously underwhelming units into relevance.

Mistake #6: Not Checking for Evolutions

Units like Freeze, Ulquorio, and Leafy have powerful evolution forms that completely transform their effectiveness. Always check if a unit you’re using has an evolution path before deciding whether to keep investing in them. Evolutions often add hybrid targeting or full AoE that changes everything.

Should I Reroll for Specific Units?

Rerolling is the process of creating new accounts repeatedly until you get desirable units from your initial summons. Here’s my honest assessment of when rerolling makes sense:

When Rerolling Makes Sense: If you’re willing to spend 2-3 hours rerolling and there’s a rate-up banner featuring meta units like Ant General, Friend, or Aura King Monarch, going for these specific units can give you a massive head start. Targeting Ant General specifically is worth the effort given his current dominance.

When Rerolling Doesn’t Make Sense: If there’s no active banner featuring meta units, your chances of getting something worthwhile are extremely low (0.25% for Mythical, 0.01% for Secret). In this case, just play normally and save gems for the next good banner. The pity system guarantees you’ll eventually get Mythical units with enough pulls.

My Recommendation: Unless you’re extremely dedicated or there’s an amazing banner active (like the Spring Update banner with boosted Secret rates), I suggest just playing with whatever you get initially and focusing on smart gem management. The game gives enough free gems through codes and Story Mode that you’ll build a solid roster over time.

How Do Unit Rarities Work in Anime Royale?

Understanding the rarity system is crucial for setting proper expectations and planning your team. Here’s the complete breakdown:

  • Secret: 0.01% pull rate – Friend, Virtual Sniper, Yado, Eyezen (no pity system)
  • Mythical: 0.25% pull rate – 400 pull pity system (Ant General, Aura King Monarch, etc.)
  • Legendary: 2% pull rate – 50 pull pity system
  • Epic: ~15% pull rate – No pity system
  • Rare: ~30% pull rate – No pity system
  • Common: ~50% pull rate – No pity system

The rarity generally correlates with power level, but there are important exceptions. Nemo is Common rarity but absolutely essential as a farm unit. Ant General is Mythical but currently outperforms many Secret units due to the bleed meta. Itchy is Legendary but outperforms some Mythicals in specific roles.

Latest Anime Royale Updates and Balance Changes

Staying current with updates is essential for understanding the meta. Here are the major changes from recent updates:

Update 6 / Spring Update (April 2026): The Spring Update introduced two new Secret units – Yado and Eyezen – both of which immediately entered S+ tier. Ant General received significant buffs to his bleed damage, cementing his position as the best unit in the game. The Modulation system was expanded with new challenge modifiers, and several previously underwhelming units received buffs that pushed them up half a tier.

Valentine Update (February 2026): Added Reaper Child and several new Trait options focused on support and healing. Introduced new Modulations for Story Mode that increase material drop rates. Aura Farmer (Purple) was added as a variant unit with improved late-game scaling compared to the original.

Update 5 (December 2025): Introduced the Modulation system and added Aura King Monarch. Trait rolling was made more accessible with increased currency drops from Rifts. Several legendaries received buffs to make them more viable in end-game content.

Update 4 (October 2025): Added Virtual Swordmaster Ultimate evolution and buffed Alize’s base stats by 15%. Introduced new Rift challenges with exclusive rewards. Ant General was added to the game (before his later buffs).

Meta Impact: The Spring Update completely reshaped the tier list. Bleed-based compositions are now dominant thanks to Ant General buffs. The addition of Yado and Eyezen gives players more Secret unit options beyond Friend and Virtual Sniper. The Trait system has become essential for optimizing units, and Modulations provide new ways to challenge yourself and farm efficiently.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the strongest unit in Anime Royale?

Ant General is currently the strongest unit in Anime Royale due to his bleed damage mechanics that scale with enemy max health. While Secret units like Friend and Yado have higher base stats, Ant General’s ability to stack percentage-based damage makes him effective against all content from early stages to end-game raids.

How do I get Secret units in Anime Royale?

Secret units like Friend, Virtual Sniper, Yado, and Eyezen have an extremely low pull rate of approximately 0.01%. There is no pity system for Secret units, so obtaining them requires exceptional luck or thousands of summons. Wait for rate-up banners that feature increased Secret drop rates, typically during major updates like the Spring Update.

Is Jotero worth summoning for?

Absolutely yes. Jotero remains one of the best support units in the game with his ability to stun, knock back, and slow enemies while dealing solid DPS. Even in the current bleed-focused meta, crowd control from units like Jotero is essential for managing large waves. He’s worth targeting on rate-up banners.

What’s better: Manara or Stabs?

Both are S-tier mythics but serve different purposes. Manara excels at raw DPS with excellent DoT effects and range, while Stabs provides more utility with stun effects and superior Infinite Mode performance due to his 1-placement limit allowing more room for other units. If you can only choose one for general content, Manara is slightly more versatile, but Stabs is better for specific Infinite Mode strategies.

Should I evolve my units immediately?

Only evolve units when you have enough resources to fully upgrade the evolved form. Evolutions like Freeze Final and Ulquioro Second are much stronger than their base forms, but if you evolve too early without resources to upgrade them, you’ll actually weaken your team temporarily. How many gems do I need for a Mythical unit?

With the 400-pull pity system, you need 20,000 gems to guarantee a Mythical unit (16,000 with VIP game pass). However, you might get lucky and pull one much earlier at the 0.25% base rate. The pity counter carries over between banners, so don’t worry about losing progress when switching banners.

What’s the best way to farm gems in Anime Royale?

Complete all Story Mode stages for first-time rewards, finish daily and weekly quests, participate in limited-time events, redeem all active codes, and consider purchasing the VIP pass if you’re serious about the game. Using Modulations that increase gem drops while doing Infinite Mode runs is also effective for late-game players.

Can Common rarity units be good?

Yes! Nemo is Common rarity but is the best farm unit for Story Mode and Raids. Some common units can serve as decent early-game shield breakers. While rarity generally correlates with power, unit role and efficiency matter more. Never discount a unit solely because of its rarity tier.

Why are farm units important?

Farm units like Nemo, Lawlight, and Aura Farmer (Purple) generate money instead of dealing damage. In tower defense games, you need money to deploy and upgrade your units. Without farm units, you can’t afford to deploy your expensive Mythical units, especially in Infinite Mode where late-game deployments can cost thousands.

How often should I summon units?

Save your gems for rate-up banners featuring meta units like Ant General, Friend, or Aura King Monarch. Summoning on standard banners wastes resources when you could have better odds for specific units you actually want. Wait for special events like the Spring Update or Valentine’s Update banners with boosted rates.

What is the Trait system in Anime Royale?

The Trait system allows you to equip special modifiers to your units that enhance their stats and abilities beyond normal upgrade limits. Traits come in different rarities (Common through Mythical) and can increase damage, attack speed, range, or provide other bonuses. You obtain Traits through rolling using currency earned from Rifts and high-wave Infinite Mode runs.

What are bleed teams in Anime Royale?

Bleed teams are compositions built around units that apply bleed damage, particularly Ant General. Bleed damage is percentage-based and scales with enemy max health, making it effective against all content. Multiple Ant Generals can stack bleed effects, and units like Reaper Child deal bonus damage to bleeding enemies. This is the current dominant meta strategy.

What is the Modulation system?

Modulations are difficulty modifiers that change how game modes function. You can activate Modulations before starting Story Mode, Raids, or Infinite Mode to add challenges or bonuses. Some Modulations increase enemy difficulty in exchange for better rewards, while others add restrictions like ‘No Farm Units’ that force different strategies. Check the Wiki for an updated Modulation tier list.

How do I reroll in Anime Royale?

Rerolling involves creating a new Roblox account and playing through the tutorial to get initial summons, then repeating until you get desirable units. To reroll: create new account, complete tutorial quickly (skip cutscenes), use any available codes, summon with starting gems, and repeat if you don’t get good units. Only reroll when there are rate-up banners for meta units.

Final Thoughts

The Anime Royale meta has never been more exciting than it is right now in 2026. With Update 6 and the Spring Update bringing new Secret units, the Trait system adding depth to unit optimization, and bleed-based compositions reshaping team building, there’s never been a better time to dive into this Roblox tower defense experience.

Understanding the tier list is just the beginning. Success in Anime Royale comes from knowing how to build synergistic teams, when to evolve your units, which Traits to prioritize, and how to adapt your strategy for different game modes. A skilled player with A-tier units and optimal Traits will outperform a careless player with S+ units every time.

Remember that tier lists provide guidance, but the meta shifts constantly. Keep an eye on the official Discord server and Trello board for balance changes. Save your gems for banners featuring the units you actually need, and don’t neglect your farm units no matter how tempting those shiny new DPS characters look.

Your goal should be building a balanced roster that covers all roles: DPS, support, farming, and shield-breaking. Experiment with bleed team compositions if you can acquire Ant General. Master the Modulation system for efficient farming. And most importantly, have fun summoning your favorite anime characters.

I’ll continue monitoring the meta and updating this tier list whenever new content drops. The current landscape favors bleed teams with Ant General, hybrid units with AoE coverage, and smart Trait management. With the strategies outlined in this guide, you’ll be dominating Infinite Mode, clearing Rifts, and climbing the leaderboards in no time.
